Travelers will be thrilled
to discover that South African cuisine has a lot to offer. Though
the pioneering European settlers had an undeniably profound early
influence on the cuisine of South Africa, the culinary landscape has
matured to become a sophisticated, complex fusion of international
flavors. Incorporating spices from the Far East with local
ingredients and traditional methods of preparation, “Modern South
Africa” cuisine is a certifiable phenomenon among food
enthusiasts. Simultaneously, the wine industry of the country is
thriving, and connoisseurs will be delighted by the spectrum of reds
and whites currently being produced. The Gourmet Escapes &
Wilderness tour of South Africa offers an itinerary that will serve
as an introduction to the current flavors of South Africa and will
provide background into the history of South African food and wine.
Wildlife encounters in luxurious accommodation completes the tour to
South Africa.

Read what the chef has to say about this menu
“ Modern South Africa cuisine is not just about mixing different influences. It is more about an approach to food – the style of preparation, seasonality and freshness of ingredients. I believe that food must express its personality by allowing its true flavors to emerge. The influences that we use to enhance the principal flavor are considerable, but should never be too overpowering or confusing”
