Touch down in Lower Zambezi where a short canoeing practice takes place. Afterwards, 4 days paddling on the Zambezi River is relaxed but promises adrenalin - packed close encounters with elephants, buffalos, hippos and a host of other mammals and birds drinking and feeding at the river's edge. Luxury tent and thatch chalets complete a day of leisure and adventure…..sun downers and excellent cuisine.

Fly to South Luangwa, Zambia's premier wildlife destinations that has remained untainted by the effect of mass tourism. If you thought the Sabi Sand offered the best leopard sightings in the world, think again. Luangwa's spotted cats are so plentiful they'll have you ho-humming after a few game drives. And if that's not recommendation enough, how's this: scientists reckon that there's one leopard for every kilometer of Luangwa river bank. The pack is also home to relic sub-species giraffe, Thornycroft's as well as Cookson's wildebeest and Crawshayi's zebra. Five days of walking and game drives with deluxe accommodation completes this once of a life-time trip to real Africa.

Detailed Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1, Saturday Johannesburg

Arrive in Johannesburg, where you are met and transferred to the Westcliff Hotel, which is part of the internationally renowned company, Orient Express Hotels, and is perfectly in tune with the distinctive taste of the experienced travelers.

Day 2 - 6, Sunday to Thursday

Fly to Lusaka International Airport in Zambia and connect on your private charter to the lower Zambezi for 2 nights' accommodation at Kayila Lodge. Practice canoeing with a short canoe run a few miles upstream from the lodge. Afterwards canoe to the exclusive Mwambashi River lodge situated at the heart of lower Zambezi where you will spend 3 nights canoeing, walking and game viewing in open game drives vehicles of the sheer wilderness of a relatively unexplored area thriving with animals and bird life.

Day 7 - 8, Friday to Saturday, South Luangwa Puku Ridge Tented Camp

Depart after breakfast for your charter flight to Puku Ridge Tented Camp in the South Luangwa National Park. Great opportunity for walking safaris (or a game drive in open vehicles) in the flood plains for the next three days. Good sightings of elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs, buffalos and giraffes. Real wilderness experience under canvas with attention to luxury and comfort.

Day 9 - 10, Sunday to Monday, South Luangwa Chichele Presidential Lodge

Transfer by road to Chichele Presidential Lodge. The lodge has a magnificent hilltop site with sumptuous, air-conditioned accommodation. Two more days spent walking and driving in this special sanctuary. Retire each night in an elegant Victorian "Gentlemen's Lodge". Enjoy last century's charm with this century's comforts.

Day 11, Tuesday South Luangwa/Johannesburg

Transfer to Lusaka International Airport by private charter for your connecting flight to Johannesburg. You will be met and transferred to the Westcliff Hotel, which is part of the internationally renowned company, Orient Express Hotels, and is perfectly in tune with the distinctive taste of the experienced travelers.

Day 12, Wednesday

Spend the day relaxing or shopping before your flight back to the USA.

Transfer to Johannesburg International Airport.
